For centuries the Galápagos Islands were a hotspot for pirates, whalers, and buccaneers; Santiago Island, which we visited today, was one of their favorites. Here we had a day full of unusual encounters with the wildlife, starting with hammerhead sharks and ending with curious flycatchers. And we visited several places around Santiago to fill our day of exploration.
