Floreana Island
This island along with San Cristobal and Española make up a group of islands with the highest degree of endemism in Galapagos. They all hold their own species of mocking bird, lava lizard and the most colorful marine iguanas. Also, one of the seven genera of flowering plants (Lecocarpus or cutleaf daisies) is found exclusively on these three islands. Although they are very rich in land organisms, they are also rich in marine life. Snorkeling in these waters is a completely extraordinary experience. Due to their location (southeast), they are receiving cold rich waters from the Humboldt Current during seven months of the year. This factor results in a very healthy and varied population of marine organisms.
