Today we started our activities at 7:00 am to explore a pristine Espumilla Beach full of interesting creatures including ghost crabs, mating sea turtles, pelicans, blue-footed boobies, mockingbirds and lots of Galapagos hawks. A small group went for some kayaking along the coast of the island of Santiago.
After a tasty breakfast and once anchored at Buccaneer’s Cove, a couple of groups went snorkeling and they saw a school of manta rays. Another group went for a Zodiac ride to see Nazca and blue-footed boobies, pelicans, swallowed-tailed gulls, a couple of mantas as well, plus amazing rock formations, one of them about 45 feet high and with the shape of a monk praying and another with the form of an elephant wading into a river.
In the afternoon, we headed to James Bay to explore the amazing coastal line of Puerto Egas, where one goes to encounter Galapagos sea lions and fur seals coexisting in the same area, and we were lucky to get some amazing close ups of them while swimming inside the grottos.
To finish a fantastic day, we had a terrific sunset, followed by a barbecue dinner on the outer deck.
