Manuel Jaramillo

Manuel Jaramillo is a geologist and expedition Naturalist from Manizales, Colombia, a city in the Colombian Andes shaped by volcanic landscapes and coffee-growing highlands. Growing up in the shadow of an active volcano sparked an early fascination with the powerful geological forces that shape mountains, landscapes and ecosystems.

This curiosity led Manuel to pursue studies in geology, where he developed a strong interest in understanding Earth as a dynamic system. Through fieldwork and research, he became especially interested in how landscapes form, evolve and influence the environments and communities around them.

Manuel later discovered that one of his greatest passions lies in sharing these processes with others. As a Naturalist, he enjoys translating complex geological concepts into accessible stories that help guests better understand the landscapes they explore.

Drawn to remote environments and dramatic terrain, Manuel approaches guiding as a form of storytelling, using landscapes as windows into Earth’s deep history and ongoing change. His goal is to help others recognize the connections between geology, ecosystems and human experience while fostering curiosity and appreciation for the natural world.
