Kirsa Nørregaard

Now based in Copenhagen, Kirsa grew up in the small East Greenlandic town of Tasiilaq, where icebergs, sled dogs and rugged granite mountains were part of everyday life. Years of living, studying and working in the Arctic have given her a deep understanding of the region's culture, language and lifestyle, along with an appreciation for crisp, cheek-biting winds and life in the far north.

Beyond her Arctic hometown, Kirsa has lived and studied in Latin America and Svalbard before earning a master's degree in Marine Science and Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark. Her research focuses on some of the Arctic's smallest organisms and their vital role in marine ecosystems, demonstrating how even the tiniest species can shape the health and function of the ocean. She enjoys sharing the science behind these often-overlooked connections with guests.

Though the Arctic remains the place she returns to most often, Kirsa has been traveling the world since childhood, usually with a backpack, kayak or snowboard in tow. She spends much of her free time exploring backcountry trails, diving into the sea or sailing through Denmark's narrow sounds. When not outdoors, she can often be found knitting warm wool sweaters or making licorice ice cream.
