Oct 21, 2019 - National Geographic Endeavour II
This week we are following in Charles Darwin’s footsteps. Today we visited an island he visited in 1835, Charles Island. This island is also known as Floreana Island, after our first president Juan Jose Flores.
We started the day with a pre-breakfast hike where we observed flamingos and blue-footed boobies courting. The rest of the morning was spent in the water, with Zodiac rides, glass-bottom boat outings and snorkeling. In the afternoon, we visited Post Office Bay and went back in time by sending mail like sailors used to do – through a barrel. The day ended with a beautiful kayak and paddleboard sunset session while we observed more flamingoes and sea turtles. Another magical day in paradise!
